What a pioneer you are Megan Fox; albeit completely fug, this slicked back mullet is capped on models for Versace F/W 2009 as well as Nina Ricci.

Cesare Paciotti - I remember you!

Blasphemy! I forgot all about Cesare Paciotti… until I saw their ad in the new Harper's Bazaar (US edition, September 2009).

I first noticed them back in university when my flatmate retrieved an absolutely DECADENT looking bag by CP from her closet (2005 collection I believe). Definitely need to get familiar again, got distracted by the hoo-has of Louboutins and that Brian Atwood, love them to bits, but Cesare Paciotti truly showcases his consistency in his collections.

L.A.M.B. vs. Babyphat

Dear Kimora,

I've posted before that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Film, photography, even speeches, can curiously mimic each other. It is only through challenging each other creatively though, that mutual appreciation is established.

Thoughtfulness, in my opinion, is very important in each creation. I like how Victoria Beckham's line echoes Roland Mourant's and sometimes, reminds me of the olden-day YSL. I can see her intention and thought.

Recently, I've also become a huge fan of purses that borrow loosely from the classic Chanel 2.55 skeleton. There's the Chloe Sally (this season, Sally has transformed into the endearing Elise), the Fendi two-toned baguette, and the endless selection from Zara. They all took the classic chain and flap bag, and made it their own.

I saw these yesterday in the Harper's Bazaar, September 2009 issue.

Kimora, I am quite disappointed. I sincerely did not expect you to let this fly under the radar. Right under your nose.

D'you know these came out last year already? I mean those black peep-toe booties were introduced to the world by L.A.M.B. - Camden Scallop Open Toe Booties to be exact! I can see why you'd like to borrow the petal design because of it's beautiful texture and versatility. But really now. Your design team couldn't have had repackaged it? Maybe in bronze? Maybe in patent black leather? How about suede with a few studs, very Alexander Wang ya?

I think somebody needs to take responsibility for this, Kimora. These are mine for your perusal. Do something. This is no longer "imitation" in my context anymore, it is blatant reproduction.

Plunging V-neck or V-thorax?

D'you know that feeling you get, when an outfit is off but you can't really say anything because it is otherwise attractive and fashion-forward?

Well, look no further than what Rachel McAdams donned. It's a beautiful Emilio Pucci dress with the V-neck just a tad wide for my liking. Should take it in. Also, I think I see a hint of the shoulder pad actually showing through the fabric, looks like a sanitary pad.

Now, the coveted Balmain. As though to prove my point, there's actually the dress modelled for print, and Daria Werbowy on the red carpet for comparison. The one on the left is more taut around the chest area, while Daria's just "sits atop lazily".

People who've done it right are Kate Hudson (in Rachel Roy) and Emma Watson (in vintage Ossie Clark).

Or, if all else fails, take a cue from what Angelina Jolie had done with her BCBG Max Azria dress.

University of San Diego - Emitte Spiritum Tuum

D'you know, every single time my mind is cluttered, I quiet myself down by thinking about the peacful beauty of my alma mater, the University of San Diego. It sits prettily atop a hill and I remember taking afternoon naps between classes on the pristine lawn, overlooking the pacific ocean, true story.

USD is the place where I cultivated an intense love for South American music, Mexican food, ethnically ambiguous friends, Afghan cuisine, Mexican beer, UNAFRAID stand-up comedians, BFFs, orange chicken, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, La Jolla, horchata, The Family Guy, Robot Chicken, flip-flops, SUNSHINE with a side of breeze, Balboa Park, Anchorman, scandal, downtown, San Diego Restaurant Week, SUVs, chill sessions, kick-back sessoins, after-school sessions, before-school sessions, let's-not-go-to-class sessions, HEARTY LAUGHTER, house parties, beer pong, In-N-Out, Blockbuster, the REAL Krispy Kreme, fast food, organic food, Costco, Longs, coyotes and raccoons.

Skills I've learnt from my time there are rumour damage control, dating, being single, COOKING, picking up after myself and others and allowing others to do the same for me, SHARING, driving, creating a buzz, secretly learning Spanish whenever the guys are commenting on la minas rica or ordering a taco con salsa verde gracias, playing hostess, forgiving but not forgetting, LAUGHING HEARTILY, negotiating, moving on, salsa dancing, wine appreciation, boring people appreciation, spinning the subject matter for the purpose of writing a paper or comforting a friend, spying, adaptation, curiosity, how to lose a guy in ten days and not lose myself, being responsible, enjoying irresponsibility, how to spot a gold digger, how to spot a rich man, hair curling, rule of thirds.

Things I love and things I've learnt, ultimately, weld into this massive jungle gym that has since shaped my spirit and the way I constantly seek myself out.

USD's school motto is Emitte Spiritum Tuum - Send Forth Thy Spirit. I take ownership of my spirit and I will send it to the moon and back if I want.

Catherine Malandrino available @ http://shop.catherinemalandrino.com

Fantastic top (Pavillon) to look at! I can't get myself to buy it, so you do it here.
1) Work-to-dinner-to-drinks attire - throw on a fierce structured jacket for meetings, paired with a high-waisted skirt or safari shorts
2) When-the-top-gets-old attire - skip tucking it in, and pair with oh-so-tight Cheap Monday jeans or casual shorts for when you grab coffee with a pal, or when you surface at a "socially inevitable" area
On a side note, this is what I do with "old" tops. When the top's fabric gets fuzzy, a running tear only noticeable to me, or simply, it's been loved too many times; the top will rotate to the casual wear ranks and get a second chance in life.

Marc by Marc Jacobs - cat leather shoulder bag available @ net-a-porter.com

What a terrifying bag! I feel so sorry for the missie who got conned into buying it at full price! I like the shape of the bag and the petal detailing on the flap; so stop right there already! Ok, ok, I see what the golden boy is trying to do with the kawaii touch but for one million dollars?! (Kidding, you can terrify people with this bag for a mere £300)

I can appreciate it on a patchwork quilt or your jammies, but the cat is so unfortunate looking! It's a BLAG, a very BLAH BAG. D'you know you can possibly make something like that yourself?

1) Go to the Salvation Army or a consignment store, get a bag that you think your detention teacher (there's always ONE that likes taking detention duties!) would lug around

2) Draw the outline of a cat on a piece of rice paper

3) Dust off some old shoes, dig out that shiny top that you will never again, in your lifetime, ever wear

4) Cut everything up into little patches while thinking of how fat your exes have gotten

5) Reasonably super glue or sew bits together according to your freehand cat outline, using it as a puzzle border

6) Super glue or sew it onto the bag

7) Tell people it's a special DIY edition

Moschino Cheap and Chic shoes available @ will-insert-when-I-find-them

D'you know I've been perving for a pair of T-strap heels? I really admire these ones! First saw them here, then here and then HERE! This is severely damaging. I recognise it as one of those love at first sight moments and I will not rest until I find them!
Get familiar! Black and gold is good for the soul! My very first post is on black and gold lady-kicks as well.

Free flowing wine every Mon @ The Press Room

D'you know, I've shamelessly dined here 2 nights in a row, bringing different dates (MY BAD!)? It's easy to fall in love with The Press Room - cozy wood, refined ambience whic is easy-going enough for you to have a hearty laugh.

Highly applaud the Press Room Burger (available lunch times and Mon nights in the form of a Wagyu variation). Onion Soup is so laden with cheese, it really deserves your money! When I get unsatisfying soup servings (i.e. too runny, too bland, too much salt, too goopy…) at restaurants, I want to personally confront the chef, true story. Quite unlikely, you'd say, after that rant, but the Caesar with anchovies is quite pleasant. They really understood that a salad needs to build upon the crisp taste of the veggie, the smoky taste of cheese, creaminess of the dressing to gel everything together and the zesty kick of anchovies. A restaurant should really nail their appetizers and I've tried most which are delightful; this is so terrible of me, but a DISAPPOINTING dish is the unimpressive, nothing to write home about Steak Tartare. I cannot elaborate further on the Steak Tartare because it's just boring.

More on the boo-boos. Service sometimes get tardy. Food portions could use some supersizing and they forget to sweep the crumbs off the leather seats.
Monday nights, meanwhile, I promise, are great fun at The Press Room. Free flowing reds and whites are generously topped up throughout the meal and you can expect selections from the likes of Rhone Valley. The Press Room, is afterall, my favourite go-to restaurant, so it won't be hard to spot my friends and I having a merry there!
Cheers!

Cinematic trend - inexperienced (impoverished?) child actors

Izulu Lami (My Secret Sky)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8178472.stm

I really enjoy the clarity and unadulterated ecstasy in fresh actors' expressions and delivery. It is, however, peculiar to see children/teenagers plucked from their everyday life to play himself/herself or someone alike, entrapped in similar living conditions.

While at the movies, I want to see the honed craft speaking to me on screen. Are child actors and actresses so scarce? Magnify the thought process of the producer(s)/director(s) and it could very well be : I'm making a movie about the banking world, scrap Al Pacino, let's just get the MD from this investment bank to "play as himself" ; or : This movie about socialites needs to be in production pronto, I'll just put Tinsley Mortimer in first to anchor the movie, and maybe she will bring in a few of her friends to "play as themselves".

What does this all mean? I don't know, but not very certain if this is the right thing to do?

Check out these films that have child actors/actresses with no prior training (in my hazy memory).
